Rosalind Russell in Gypsy and Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady are two of the most famous examples of movie stars with limited singing abilities being cast as the lead in major Hollywood musicals and having their singing dubbed.
I had not realized how common this was until watching this video compilation – even very capable singers like Angela Lansbury, a Broadway musical legend, have been dubbed!
