Showtune Sunday: Diana Ross does Broadway!

I’ve never seen this before and assume a lot of you haven’t either.

Diana Ross performs a series of classic Broadway songs made famous by the likes of Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand and Angela Lansbury.

This is from a television special but I’m not sure of the year – I’m guessing late 60s.

Although Diana has never done a full-blown Broadway musical, she did win a special Tony for her one-woman show.

As any true Diana Ross fan knows, this medley is not from one of her ’70s specials, but is in fact from the 1969 NBC-TV special she did with The Supremes and The Temptations: G.I.T. On Broadway.

In actuality, the Leading Lady Medley is from Diana Ross & the Supremes and the Temptations G.I.T. On Broadway, which aired on Nov. 12′ 1969 on NBC.

Yes, the “G.I.T./Broadway” special, which is available on the soundtrack LP, find it on ebay, Amazon, etc.. It was the followup to the NBC TV Special T.C. B., also with Diana Ross & The Supremes and The Temptations, a #1 Tv ratings hit, and a #1 Billboard Albums chart hit for the Soundtrack album.
