Showtune Sunday: Broadway’s original “Annie” Andrea McArdle turns 60 today – see her sing “Tomorrow”

At the 1981 Tony Awards, Andrea McArdle was on hand to belt out Tomorrow and boy, is she amazing. She was 14 when she took on the lead role in the original Broadway production of Annie. She would also perform the role on London’s West End. She returned to Broadway many times in such shows as Starlight Express, State Fair, Les Miserables, and Beauty and the Beast and starred in national tours (Les Miserables, Jerry’s Girls), international tours (Cabaret) and many regional productions (Anything Goes, Evita Gypsy, Annie Get Your Gun, Name, Hello, Dolly! Grease, and Oliver! among others.
