Showtune Sunday: All about Shirley Bassey!
Ever since seeing her perform Goldfinger at the Oscars in 2013, I’ve been all about Shirley Bassey.
I was late to the party, really had to idea how completely fabulous she is.
But now I do so today’s Showtune Sunday is all about Dame Bassey.
Enjoy!!!

It’s a wonder your rainbow card was not cancelled for not being an apostle of the Diva of Divas.. Now that your education has been fulfilled you need to do a post graduate course through U tube, then your world will be complete
Greg says:
Dame Shirley not Dame Bassey. Sir or Dame is always followed by the christian name, not the surname.
Normie99 says:
Greg – see if you can find ‘Tonight, I Gave the Greatest Performance of My Life’ by Dame Shirley. So dramatic – totally sensational. Also, she does a great job on ‘Nobody Does It Better’. You should be forgiven for not knowing that Dame and Sir are followed by the person’s given name, being American. Not really in use in your country much, is it? Same goes for the title ‘Master’. The actor Alan Bates once famously stopped talking to a co-worker when Bates was asked if, as a child, he was called ‘Master Bates’. Of course, it was Master Alan, but later in life, Bates didn’t see the humour in this.
Joe says:
Welcome to the world of Shirley Bassey, Greg. Like I always say, better late than never.
And, while you’re enjoying something so very special, do yourself a favor and look up “What Did I Have That I Don’t Have” by Eydie Gorme. It’s a tremendously beautiful and powerful performance by someone from the same generation of wonderful performers that should be cherished.
