Showtune Sunday: All About Patti LuPone!
So last night I attended the Family Equality Council Awards at The Beverly Hilton. I’ll have some coverage on that later today.
As I got settled on the red carpet (which was actually purple), I glanced down at the updated press sheet and there was her name: Patti LuPone!
My queen.
Would I actually get to speak to her? What would I ask? Could I keep my gushing in check? I was not at all confident that I would be able to contain myself.
It turns out Miss LuPpone was the guest of one of the Modern Family producers being honored. She did not walk the carpet and while I was hoping to see her, I was slightly relieved when she did not appear.
There are so few stars who do this to me but she is one.
So here are a trio of my favorite performances from Broadway’s Evita, Mama Rose, Reno Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett and the London stage’s original Fantine from Les Miserables and Sunset Boulevard’s Norma Desmond.
