Showtune Sunday: All about Jenifer Lewis!

I’m so excited about seeing Jenifer Lewis perform this morning during opening ceremonies of AIDS Walk LA.

She is a great ally to the LGBT community and was honored back in 2007 by the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center with her award presented to her by the one and only Shirley MacLaine.

Jenifer made her Broadway debut in the musical Eubie! then was cast as Effie in the workshop of Dreamgirls. But when the show moved to Broadway, she was replaced by Jennifer Holliday.

Miss Lewis has gone on to have an eclectic career on stage (Hairspray) in movies (What’s Love Got to Do With It, Poetic Justice, Meet the Browns) and on television (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Strong Medicine, Girlfriends).
