Showtune Sunday: All About Bruce Springsteen!
Bruce Springsteen’s support of the LGBT community isn’t something new.
Back in 1993, he wrote and performed the song Streets of Philadelphia for the movie Philadelphia which starred Tom Hanks as an attorney fired from his law firm because he had AIDS.
The song was a critical triumph and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song and four Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Vocal Performance, Solo, and Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or Television.
Here is Streets of Philadelphia and three more of my favorite Springsteen songs.

It seems like forever since “Philadelphia” came out. I was very impressed with Springsteen for refusing to perform in Alabama after they signed into law an anti LGBT bathroom ordinance.
Charlie says:
OOPS! I just saw that it was North Carolina he refused to perform in.
