Showtune Sunday: All About Bea Arthur!

Last night at Outfest Fusion , honoree Alec Mapa did an anecdote in his film Alec Mapa: Baby Daddy about Dorothy Loudon and the first time he watched the Tony Awards with his parents.

That planted the seed to do a Loudon-themed Showtune Sunday.

Well, it will have to wait because my search for Loudon material kept bringing up all these great Bea Arthur numbers – some that I had never seen before.

I saw her perform her one-woman show in 2004 or 2005 and was dazzled – even went out and bought the CD. While she is a two-time Emmy winning television legend with two long-running classics in Maude and The Golden Girls, she had already for decades been dazzling audiences on Broadway and Off-Broadway.
