Showtune Monday: All About Christine Baranski!
Hello! Am doing a Showtune Monday instead of Sunday because today is Christine Baranski’s 70th birthday!
I spent the weekend on the sofa (got second booster shot Saturday) so it was the perfect time to finish watching The Gilded Age on HBO Max, an entertaining show on which Miss Baranski portrays a hilarious snob. As usual, she is delicious/
She’s also been playing the terrific role of attorney Diane Lockhart since 2009 – first on The Good Wife and now on The Good Fight.
And while she’s earned scores of Emmy nominations for her dramatic work, on the occasion of her birthday that we celebrate the musical talents of this two-time Tony winner.
She, of course, starred in the two Mamma Mia movies, and also played Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd and the title role in Mame.
Two years ago, she was part of a most memorable performance (with Meryl Streep and Audra MacDonald) of The Ladies Who Lunch in celebration of Stephen Sondheim’s 90th birthday.

Jose R. says:
She is a 15-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee, winning once in 1995 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Maryann Thorpe in the sitcom Cybill (1995–1998) which is a funny sitcom loosely based on Absolutely Fabulous. I loved her in that role.
