I really Thought Venus Williams would win her sixth Wimbledon singles title today. Instead, it was her little sister Serena Williams who won her third and first since 2003. Both sisters were in fine form in what was their fourth final against each other at the All England Club but I think Serena just wanted it more after losing to Venus last year.

After her 7-6, 6-3 loss, the gracious Venus said: “I’m not sure if (the loss) has sunk in yet because I’m still smiling.” She was smiling because she was happy for her sister even if it was at her expense. It’s amazing how these Williams sisters compete so well against each other ion the world’s biggest stages year after year./ Their head-to-head now stands at 11-10 with Serena’s nose now out in front.

A few hours after their singles final, Venus and Serena returned it Center Court as a team and won the women’s doubles crown for the fourth time in their careers.
