See this week’s powerful episode of ‘Gaycation’ – Ellen Page goes to Orlando after shooting at Pulse

Ellen Page’s Vice series Gaycation has its most moving episode to date this week and I highly recommend you watch it now.

The Oscar nominated actress and best friend Ian Daniel visit Orlando in the days after the attack on Pulse nightclub.

The episode can be seen in its entirety below.

In it, the pair talk to one of the 53 survivors of the mass shooting that left 49 people dead. They go one of the funerals, a rally, a church service, and to the site of the shooting. They also talk to friends and partners of those injured or dead as well as community leaders.

Page notes how in one dark night, the Pulse shooter brought to light some of America’s most divisive issues: intolerance for the LGBTI community, Islamophobia, xenophobia, and gun violence.

Among those interviewed is a man named Mario whose partner was shot four times that night and survived. Their relationship was in its very early stages but getting deeper at the time of the attack.

‘All of this put a stop to all of that. Unless something like this touches you directly, you will never feel how deep it hurts and how difficult it is to go through it,’ Merio says. ‘There’s a lot of mixed feelings. It’s a lot of anger, and I think for the first time in my life, I felt hate, which is horrendous.’
