See Rosie O’Donnell’s video about leaving The View: “I’m minimizing my stress”

I tuned in to The View this morning ready to see what Rosie O’Donnell and her co-hosts would have to say about her leaving the show – a surprise development that was big news over the weekend.

It wasn’t mentioned!

Huh?

Turns out Rosie just didn’t want to.

She says in a YouTube video posted after the show that she doesn’t plan to discuss it on Tuesday either and that her final day as full-time co-host will be on Thursday.

O’Donnell said her co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace had wanted her to discuss her leaving but it was her choice not to.

She reiterated on the video that the decision has everything to do with her health and lowering her stress level.

O’Donnell returned to The View last fall after an earlier stint as the show’s moderator in 2006-07. She separated from wife Michelle Rounds in November. They have one child together and O’Donnell is raising four others with her ex-partner Kelli Carpenter.

She said in the video: ‘The truth is I had a heart attack two years ago and stress is very bad for heart attack survivors. You should minimize your stress, maximize your exercise and control your diet. That’s what you need to do for a healthy heart. So that’s what I’m doing. I’m minimizing my stress by leaving The View.’

She added: ‘There’s lots of stuff going on at home and there’s lots of stuff going on at work. And the only thing I can really control is the work, by leaving. I can turn that volume all the way down to zero and just focus on what I need to focus on, which is my health and my family.’

2 Remarks

  1. Good riddance.

  2. I used to be a fan of Rosie but in the last few years, she’s become a bit too much to watch. From this video it doesn’t sound like she’s doing too good. I get the impression she’s got some personal issues going on and I don’t think the stress will disappear from only leaving The View. As much as she irritates me these days, I sincerely hope she gets the help she needs. I don’t enjoy seeing anyone miserable like that. Bless you, Rosie.
