See Matt Bomer winning Critics Choice TV Award for “The Normal Heart”
I had previously reported that Matt Bomer won the best supporting actor award at the Critics Choice Television Awards on Thursday night but I did not have video to post at that time and had not yet seen his speech.
Just as he did with his performance in The Normal Heart, Matt hits a home run in the speech thanking all the relevant people including husband Simon Halls and their three kids and paid tribute to director Ryan Murphy for getting Larry Kramer’s work about the early days of the AIDS crisis to the screen.
But the best line was saved for last when Matt said: “To the generation that we lost, I just want to say that we remember you and we honor you. This is for you.”

It is by Gods Grace, that many of us survived that time period, without so much as a scratch (so to speak)…It is a very humbling experience and sad for all those we lost….

Matt did an outstanding job in a powerful, sad, wonderful picture. What amazes me is his being so humble, so grateful…. he did this part and he did it magnificiently, I doubt anyone could do it better. So, my heartfelt congratulations to a great actor, a wonderful human being, and a role model. I can’t wait to see his future performances!

I don’t want to be the person saying: “I told you so!” but I have to be him for this moment and especially with Matt’s win. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the last time he is going to be honored for his performance because he was I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-Ez!!!!!!!!!! His performance was very similar to that of Oscar Winner, Tom Hanks in ‘Philadelphia’ but on a smaller screen and least amount of time. The impact was great and every scene Matt was in, you felt honored that he was blessing you not only with his beauty because we all know that Matt Bomer is an ‘Oily-BO-HUNK’ but his acting was so on point. Can I say that I only wished this performance could get him an Oscar because it was good! From the opening scene of Normal Heart, I knew that it was an EPIC moment for entertainment, the arts and Yes, the LGTB community. I was shocked that more of the community didn’t have screening taking place. Believe me, if I had some money, I would have had some kind of ‘turnt up’ event because the same fanfare I remember with ‘Queer As Folk’ and bars would have a get together, there should have been something going on. I had my own celebration but I wish I could have been crying away with others during some of the scenes. Yet, laugh my ass off with others, like Jim Parson, love him.
Ryan Murphy handled this beautiful play (thank you and God bless and keep Larry Kramer safe) and turned into tv movie, that only HBO (God Bless them) could do. Mr. Murphy, who is just this beautiful man, handle this story like fine china, as delicately as it could be, yet still you felt every frame was sprinkled with love, honor and respect for the ghosts of all those men and women that suffered in silence at times and lost the battle. Those same spirit/souls that were here, were now cheering and rejoicing. Actually they were finally resting in peace because their deaths weren’t in vain.
They were someone’s entire life at one time. They were someone’s sons and even daughters, along with being brothers and sisters, as well as fathers and mothers and their lives were snatched away. They would parish in this complete tragedy that hit the world like a plague. They were friends, they were passionate lovers and even beautiful, gifted and talented people, that you might not knew personally but when you saw them, you relished in their FABULOUSNESS and never thought there would be a day, night or time, that they weren’t here. All these beautiful spirit/souls were not just vital to their communities that they lived in and came from but so necessary for our society as a whole to continue on.
With a blink of an eye, all these beautiful and talented people were literally fighting and losing this battle, that your strongest solider might back down from.
