See Judy Garland’s classic 1963 Christmas special!
I’ve seen bits and pieces of this but had never watched it in its entirety until tonight. It’s too good not to post. The year is 1963 and Judy Garland is still in excellent form when she is joined in this wonderful TV special by her children, Liza Minnelli , Lorna Luft and Joey Luft, and guest stars Jack Jones and Mel Torme. The songs include Yuletide favorites like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, as well as Little Drops of Rain, Over the Rainbow, and more.
The original commercials are included!

My friends and I refer to this as “Poor Drunk Judy” and we watch it every year. It is just a stitch to watch the downward spiral of Judy’s behavior during this hour. At points she seems confused, doesn’t know her lines and, during the last “Dancing Santas” routine, downright irritated. We imagine her hitting the bottle during commercial breaks just to get through it. “The Judy Garland Christmas Show” is a great time capsule peek into a troubled soul and a reminder of what a great talent that we lost far too soon.
