See trailer for “Fellow Travelers” starring Matt Bomer & Jonathan Bailey as two men who fall in love in 1950s

I’m looking forward to watching this miniseries but have to admit that just watching the trailer gave me a little bit of anxiety. I struggled being in the closet for much of the 90s for professional and personal reasons and there was a real fear of being outed and some efforts to present a false life. So to see what gay men with ambition had to face in the 1950s is triggering.
Fellow Travelers is a decades-long chronicle of the risky, volatile and steamy relationship between the charismatic and ambitious Hawk and the pious and idealistic Tim, two political staffers who fall in love at the height of the 1950s Lavender Scare. The series stars Emmy nominee Matt Bomer, the out actor who has had gay roles in such acclaimed movies and shows as The Normal Heart, The Boys in the Band, Doom Patrol and Will & Grace. It also stars openly gay Olivier Award winning actor Jonathan Bailey who is one of the stars of Bridgerton on television and Company, The York Realist, and Cock on the London stage.

Let me know what you think of the trailer!

One Remark

  1. Really, trailer gave me butterflies such a scary time, but to be honest fortunately I accepted my sexuality and more importantly – the line Johnathan says in the trailer who we LOVE and love determines sexuality in the late 1970’s which was a magical time. Never said shoulda woulda coulda when looking back. Had good friends who now are passed who met in the 1940’s and 1950’s both men and women, went to a few 50 year together celebrations and though THEY HAD IT ROUGH – we didn’t and don’t really. The only thing now dividing our community is the trans issue
