Saturday Video: Bette Midler is in superb form performing “Be My Baby” on Ellen’s show

She;s going to be 70 in December but you would not know it by looking at her. Bette Midler paid a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week and looked and sounded absolutely sensational as she performed the classic song Be My Baby from her album It’s the Girls. In the second video, Ellen hits a nerve when she mistakenly says the multiple Grammy, Emmy and Tony winner had also won an Oscar. “I was robbed!” says Bette. Nominated in 1980 for her film debut in The Rose, she lost that year to Sally Field in Norma Rae. I saw Sally’s performance again a few weeks ago at the TCM Film Festival and do believe the Academy got that one right. But I think Bette deserved to win in 1992 when she was nominated for For the Boys. Jodie Foster won her second Oscar that year for The Silence of the Lambs.
