Saturday Morning Man: Peter Scanavino!
I don’t usually post a Morning Man on a Saturday but this is a special case: today is Leap year baby Peter Scanavino’s 40th birthday!
The handsome actor plays detective-turned assist DA Dominick Carisi, Jr. on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU which earlier this week was renewed for three more seasons. The show has already been on for 21 years but Scanavino did not joined the cast in 2014. He was initially a recurring character but was soon promoted to regular cast member.
He’s had guested on almost all the shows in the Law & Order franchise including the original show as well as Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Law & Order: Trial By Jury. All that’s missing from his resume is the short-lived Law & Order: LA. He had also done guest spots on many other shows including The Good Wife, Royal Pains, Person of Interest, Third Watch and The Blacklist, among others.
In 2010, Scanavino took some time away from acting to pursue his interest in cooking. After graduating with a certificate in Culinary Arts from The French Culinary Institute in New York, he began a brief stint working in the kitchen of Dan Barber’s Michelin-starred restaurant Blue Hill in Greenwich Village.
