Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry have gotten married!
So happy for them!
Sara Gilbert and musician Linda Perry were married over the weekend in a sunset ceremony overlooking the ocean.
The couple, who became engaged last April, invited some of their famous friends to the wedding including Sara’s co-hosts on the daytime’s The Talk.
Oscar nominated actress Juliette Lewis was among those who tweeted about the wedding and called the brides ‘one of my fave couples in the universe.’
Linda and Sara went public with their relationship in November 2011.
Earlier that year, Sara had split from television producer Allison Adler after 10 years together. They share custody of son, Levi, 9, and daughter, Sawyer, 6.
Sara, of course, is best known for her long-running role of Darlene on the sitcom Roseanne which ended in 1997 but continues to enjoy tremendous popularity in reruns.
She has also enjoyed enormous success with The Talk now in its fourth season.
Co-host Aisha Tyler told viewers at the start of today’s show that the wedding ‘was at sunset, and overlooking the ocean.’
Julie Chen, added that Sara ‘is off on her honeymoon and returns on Monday.’
The couple got engaged almost a year ago exactly and Sara’s description of how Linda popped the question is so wonderful that I’m going to rerun it:
‘We go to a park, and we have food and we’re eating it, it’s really sweet and there’s this guy sitting playing guitar, like a street musician, and he starts playing this song that we love. … I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s so weird, this is so magical and amazing.’
‘So that ends, and she’s like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna ask him to play this other song,’ but this other song is really obscure and this guy wouldn’t know it, but magically he knows it. … And suddenly the people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket and walk over and they start playing Love Song (by the Cure).’
‘Then she goes to her backpack and she pulls out some T-shirts, and the first T-shirt says “Will,” and then she puts on another T-shirt that says “You,” “Marry,” “Me” and the last one is a question mark. And then she goes to her backpack and gets a ring.’
‘So then she says, “OK, turn around,” and I turn around and our mums are there and a couple of friends. … So I think that’s it and it’s the most amazing proposal ever and then … this guy walks up and she’s like, “This is John Waite,” and he starts playing Missing You.’
