Sam Smith gets 13 Billboard Music Award nods

Nominations for the 2015 Billboard Music Awards were announced today and I’m thrilled to see openly gay superstar Sam Smith receive 13 nominations.

Only Taylor Swift got more nominations with 14.

Among the categories Smith was nominated in was Top Artist, Top New Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Album for his debut album In the Lonely Hour.

‘Oh my lordy. THIRTEEN Nominations. Unreal. Thank you so much Billboard xxxx,’ Smith said on Twitter after the nominations were announced.

These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on the reporting period of March 10, 2014 through March 8, 2015.
