Sally Field sort of promotes her new film “Spoiler Alert” on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”
Spoiler Alert is a moving, funny, and devastating film that provides Sally Field with a good role as the mother of a gay man who has terminal cancer. Since she is so good in the film and has a gay son in real life, I expected her to speak passionately about the movie based on Michael Ausiello’s best-selling memoir. But the movie is barely mentioned in this disjointed interview with Stephen Colbert where more time is spent on tired topics like Gidget, The Flying Nun and The Actor’s Studio. Heard about it, read about it many, many, many times. What a wasted opportunity to promote this wonderful film starring Jim Parsons as Ausiello and Ben Aldridge as his husband, Kit Cowan. Since a clip was not shown during Miss Field’s appearance, here are some below. Spoiler Alert is in select theaters this Friday and nationwide December 9th.

It was a wasted opportunity. I was really disappointed with Colbert’s flippant disregard in bringing some thoughtfulness to this interview with an accomplished actress such as Sally Field. Wanting to hear about this film and her role in it and not being able to even discuss it was so infuriating. Worst interview ever.
