Ryan Reynolds may be getting own X-Men flick

Were you as excited as I was to see Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in the new X-Men Orgins: Wolverine movie? And were you disappointed that he disappears for a big chunk of it?

Well, good news: Variety reports that Twentieth Century Fox is developing Deadpool, an X-Men spinoff for the buff and beautiful Reynolds. Hello, Fandango, can I buy my tickets NOW?

Variety writes that Reynolds seemed destined to play the popular character who is really Wade Wilson, a mercenary who submits himself to the Weapon X genetic altercation experiment because he is dying of cancer. He emerges as an indestructible but only semi-sane anti-hero.

Why was Reynolds such a perfect choice? In one reference in the Marvel Comics, Deadpool is described as, get this, a mix between “a Shar Pei and Ryan Reynolds.”
