Ryan Murphy says Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Cory Monteith will depart “Glee” after season 3
It seems that no character – no matter how popular – is safe on Glee.
Creator Ryan Murphy tells The Hollywood Reporter that after this season, he plans to write Lea Michelle (Rachel), Chris Colfer (Kurt) and Cory Monteith (Finn) out of the show because their characters will be graduating from high school.
“You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year,” Murphy said.
He added that who’s graduating and who’s staying will be revealed in the Sept. 20 season premiere:“We’ve never done anything by the book. We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea. They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top.”
What do you think Glee fans? Is it a good idea to start phasing core characters out or would you rather see these performers playing high school students well into their 20s and early 30s?

Why bother even Making the show, if this is the attitude?! By this ‘logic’ MASH would not have lasted longer than the actual war! Just plain stupid.

It seems MOST of the main cast should graduate this year and not just the big three. Quinn, Puck, Artie, Mercedes, Santana and Britney are all portrayed as the same age as Finn, Rachel and Kurt. The show has never made it a point to bring in new freshmen every year and say good-bye to outgoing seniors. In fact, the show has never made it a point to show the different class rank designations of freshman, sophomore, junior or senior. It doesn’t make sense for Quinn to be Cheerios captain as a sophomore but makes even less sense, if she is to continue on the show, to be captain as a freshman. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to graduating characters. New Directions is going to have to double in size this year if they plan on replacing all the outgoing students or re-invent themselves next year with a whole new cast and face the wrath of the Gleeks and watch the show spiral in the ratings and get canceled.

Will miss Cory and Chris, the other one they could have got rid of her in casting, but, I do see his point, they have to graduate sometime and Cory already does not look like a teen, and, I’m sure Ryan Murphyt will replace them with great actors.

Many older actors play younger roles. As long as they are entertaining and LOOK and PLAY the part, I could care less about the time frame. Look at your day dramas, High School Musicals, Harry Potters……The time frame for these were stretched out….still entertaining and very popular with their viewers.

Have they forgotten this is called acting, it is not a reality show!?
This is the same mindless silliness that plays into the misconception that a gay actor can’t play a leading-male role in a romantic comedy across from a non-gay actress… or visa versa.

This is plain stupid. How about quinn,santana,puck,artie and the other main casts? Aren’t they in the same level? Whats the point of getting rid of them? I bet Glee will be goin down! URGH FUCK YOU DIRECTOR
