Rosie O’Donnell apologizes for speculating about Barron Trump and autism: ‘I am sorry for the pain I caused’

Rosie O’Donnell is apologizing for wondering aloud on Twitter if Donald Trump’s youngest son has autism.

‘I am sorry for the pain I caused – it was not my intent – i am truly sorry,’ O’Donnell tweeted Thursday.

Last week, O’Donnell retweeted a video of Barron Trump suggesting he may be autistic. O’Donnell wrote in her retweet: ‘Barron Trump Autistic? If so — what an amazing opportunity to bring attention to the AUTISM epidemic.’

O’Donnell now writes: ‘I apologize to @MELANIATRUMP – I was insensitive in my RT.’

O’Donnell, who has been engaged in a 10-year feud with Trump, suffered backlash in the days that followed for speculating about a 10-year-old child.

In a recent blog post, O’Donnell shared that she ‘tweeted from my heart’ and revealed that her three-and-a-half-year-old daughter Dakota was diagnosed in September with high functioning autism.

‘This autism subject had nothing to do with Donald though I admit he does trigger me in all ways,’ she wrote then. ‘I have no ill will for his children – or any children – and if you knew anything about me you would know that.’
