Roger Federer upsets Novak Djokovic to reach a record eighth mens singles final at Wimbledon

An absolutely thrilling day for Roger Federer fans!

The Swiss superstar upset top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of Wimbledon today and will face Britain’s Andy Murray in Sunday’s final.

Murray will have the hopes of a nation in his shoulders as he attempts to become the first British man to win the title in 75 years. Federer will be trying to match Pete Sampras’ record of seven Wimbledon singles crowns.

If Federer wins Sunday in his 24th Grand Slam final, the 30-year-old legend also would take the No. 1 ranking from Djokovic and equal Sampras’ record of 286 weeks as the top-ranked player.

“There’s obviously a lot on the line for me in terms of winning here, the all-time Grand Slam record, world No. 1,” Federer said after te match. “I’m also going into that match with some pressure, but I’m excited about it. That’s what I play for.”
