Roger Federer says he misses Rafael Nadal’s “pirate pants and the sleeveless” shirts
Later today, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will play against each other for the Madrid Masters crown.
It’s a big deal because it is their first showdown in 12 months!
It’s nice to see tennis’s greatest rivalry renewed now that Nadal has come back from injury and is playing well again winning titles in Monte Carlo and Rome in recent weeks.
Anyway, Madrid is an important warm-up for the French Open which begins next Sunday. Federer is the defending champion both in Madrid and at the French where Nadal has won three times.
Both men are not only warriors on the court, but they are also very stylish players who care about their tennis attire. I just read an ESPN cover story on Roger where he actually remarked on Rafael’s ever-changing look: “I think it’s a pity he gave up his pirate pants and the sleeveless [shirts]. I thought our styles were colliding even more then. I kind of miss it.”
Me too, but I’m sure not for the same reasons: I miss seeing Nadal’s bulging biceps fully exposed!

Well he’s the only one as far as I’m concerned, I only wish Nike would give “Rafa” shorts that fit, he is a guy with a huge rear, bigger than Serena’s, which is huge, and all that “adjusting” it is just gross. The new color, blue, looks good on him, too bad the shorts just don’t look good on him.
If, anything, bring back the short shorts of the 1970’s and 1980’s, the baggy, pirate shorts that Samapras dragged into the tennis world, are just awful and hide the good stuff!
Tracy says:
The picking and pulling is very gross and if it is a habit it is a weird one. Rafael does have a nice body but, this is tennis put some sleeves on those shirts please.
Alli says:
Nadal is a baller, he can do and wear what he wants!
