Robby Ginepri loses first match in LA
Dammit!
I was hoping to watch the dreamy Robby Ginepri play at the LA Tennis Open this week but did not make it over to UCLA tonight as tentatively planned. Robby, who on Sunday won his first tournament in four years, had the misfortune of drawing former No. 1 Marat Safin for his opening match.
Safin, the 2000 US Open and 2005 Australian Open champion who is retiring at the end of the season, prevailed over Ginepri 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The win was Safin’s first in three meetings with Ginepri but the two had not played in four years.
I’ll have to catch ya next year Robby.
