Ricky Gervais, needing the last word, makes more bad women driver jokes about Caitlyn Jenner
I know he has his fans but I’m hoping Ricky Gervais and the Golden Globe Awards are history.
Did not enjoy most of his humor, didn’t find it clever – mostly it was mean and he seemed smug.
Find someone else Hollywood Foreign Press Association, there are plenty of candidates, or just go without a host as you did for many, many years.
Anyway, Gervais is once again going after Caitlyn Jenner with bad driver jokes after the reality star suggested this week that she replace Gervais as Golden Globe Awards host.
‘Please, please, please let her host The @goldenglobes,’ Gervais tweeted. ‘Just don’t let her drive.’
Jenner was asked during this week’s TV Critics Association Press Tour about Gervais taking aim at her during his opening monologue at the Globes last Sunday.
Gervais had said of Jenner: ‘What a year she’d had. She became a role model for trans people everywhere showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes – she didn’t do a lot for women drivers.’
Gervais was referring to Jenner’s involvement last year in a car accident in Malibu that resulted in the death of a woman.
During a session promoting season two of her reality show I Am Cait on Thursday Jenner had said: ‘I think what I’m going to do is call the Golden Globes and see if they need a new host for next year and we will solve that problem.’
Gervais also reacted to the Entertainment Weekly headline ‘Caitlyn Jenner breaks her silence on Ricky Gervais’ by tweeting: ‘At last. She always brakes too late.’

His what, Jane? Certainly not his mean-spirited “jokes”. There’s nothing hilarious about picking on people and embarrassing them in front of their peers.

People pointing out the car joke as somehow demeaning against trans men and women need to lighten the hell up. If anyone wants to get their panties wadded up, it should be women in general for make a joke about a well-known stereotype regarding women drivers. We are becoming a country where it’s impossible to talk or have fun without offending someone. And EVERYONE does this. Even the people who are so upset with all the stuff say other things frequently that would offend other groups.
It’s time we realize comedians bring attention to subjects through humor. You may laugh. You may not. But that’s their job to put us on edge to make us think sometimes. All this rampant social justice warrior hypocrisy needs to stop.
