Recap of GLAAD Tidings event and fashion show with Frenchie Davis, JP Calderon, Chad Allen and more!

I attended the 12th Annual GLAAD Tidings event at the home of Tony & Jeanne Pritzker Sunday night and had the most terrific time.
All kinds of celebs on hand including Chad Allen, JP Calderon (Janice Dickenson Modeling Agency), Kevin Campbell (Big Brother 11), Candis Cayne (Dirty Sexy Money), Kim Coles (Pay It Off, Celebrity Fit Club), JaI Rodriguez (Oy Vey! My Son is Gay!) Doug Spearman (Noah’s Arc) Darryl Stephens (Noah’s Arc), Rib Hillis (Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) and others.
For me, the real treat was seeing the powerhouse talent of Frencie Davis live for the first time. She sang a few songs including I Am Changing from Dreamgirls. Frenchie was in the top 1o during the first season of American Idol and has gone on to have a sensational career on Broadway.
Frenchie told the crowd that she appears at so many LGBT events that “I should just come out! Actually, I am a gay man trapped inside of a woman I’ve been told. What can I say? The community has such a special place in my heart and I certainly don;t believe I would be as successful as I’ve been in my Broadway career and everything else if it weren’t for the gay community.”
JP Calderon was one of the gorgeous models who participated in an eco-friendly fashion show featuring designs made from recycled Lexus car parts! Here is JP wearing some hub caps! (Just kidding!) Whatever he’s wearing, he sure looks good in it!
Chad Allen is a welcomed presence at any event. Thoughtful and articulate, he is also one of Hollywood’s busiest actors and producers. My new interview with Chad will be posted soon!
Jai Rodriguez, best known for being one of the fab five on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, is an actor too who has a role in the current release Oy Vay! My Son is Gay! He’s pictured with gorgeous and funny Candis Cayne who had the crowd in stitches with her quick wit.
I didn’t get a chance to talk to these houseguests from Big Brother 11. I haven’t watched the show since the awful season of Evil Dick which was a franchise killer for me.
GLAAD’s new executive director Jarrett Barrios gave a speech that really packed a pump. This guy has passion!
He told the crowd what we all deserve is to be “respected, accepted and valued for who we are. … Equality applies to gay and transgender people too.”
Kim Coles is always a bright light on a red carpet. Love her smile and her energy.
Darryl Stephens was one of the celebrity hosts who emceed the evening.
