President Obama on DOMA: ‘The Supreme Court has righted that wrong, and our country is better off for it’
It’s just such a thrilling day.
Can you imagine if we had a President Romney in this day?
Thankfully, we have a President Barack Obama, the first president in US history to publicly support gay marriage.
He applauded the Supreme Court’s decision today to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act and called DOMA ‘discrimination enshrined in law.’
‘It treated loving, committed gay and lesbian couples as a separate and lesser class of people,’ Obama said in a statement released by The White House. ‘The Supreme Court has righted that wrong, and our country is better off for it.’
