Portia de Rossi talks to TV Guide about “Better off Ted,” Ellen and a possible “Arrested Development” movie
Portia de Rossi returns to television on Sunday when the second season of the sitcom Better off Ted premieres.
She plays the hilariously Veronica in the office comedy.
“I tend to gravitate toward characters who are really damaged,” she tells TV Guide. “…When you play characters who are insensitive, you have so much freedom to create great comedy and say these horrible, cutting lines that you don’t get to in real life.”
Portia also gives an update on the much-discussed Arrested Development movie which seems to be stalled for now: “I got a call from [Arrested creator] Mitch Hurwitz asking if I was interested , and I said, “Of course.” I talked to [producer] Ron Howard – he’s excited about it. We just haven’t seen a script, so we’re not scheduled to start filming any time soon.”
The actress married Ellen DeGeneres last year prior to the passage of Proposition 8 in California and says married life is going well: “I love it. It’s so different from just being an unmarried couple sharing a house … we’re sharing a life. We’re growing together in ways that just feel much richer and deeper. … There’s this feeling of peace and safety. It’s just a really lovely feeling.”
