Anytime I write about Elisabeth Hasselbeck of The View and refrain from calling her an idiot, it’s a total victory in terms of self control.
Well, thank God she decided to spew her idiotic view of things to a guest who was able to gracefully poke holes in her “logic” about gay marriage.
According to Huffington Post, Elisabeth on Friday’s show wondered to Portia de Rossi if all this gay marriage stuff is just a matter of semantics: “Take men and women. Women want all the rights of men, but they’re not asking to be called men. Do you think…is the word [marriage] more important than the rights?”
Replied Ellen DeGeneres‘ very smart wife: “No, of course the word isn’t more important than the rights. Without the word, we don’t have equal rights. … Every citizen of this country should have that legal right to be married. “Marriage the word actually does mean something because people who see a gay coupling as a lesser thing in society can continue to [think] it’s lesser than marriage when really it’s the exact same thing. The exact same love, the exact same commitment, love of family.”
I ask you, has Elisabeth – who seems to get her views from talking points from FOX News – ever uttered anything this intelligent in all of her years on this show?
