Photos of Geri Jewell, Jason Stuart, Lane twins & others at “Laugh Out Loud” benefit for LifeWorks!
I’m more than a week late in posting about this event but better late than never!
I attended the Laugh Out Loud benefit benefiting the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center’s LifeWorks Mentoring project on March 20 and had a terrific time.
Geri Jewell (pictured above) of Facts of Life and Deadwood fame was performing at her first LGBT event as an out lesbian and she was hilarious: “I used to have Cerebral Palsy. But now I’m GAY. “
Later she said: “I’m proud to be on this stage. I’m getting more and more comfortable with who I am.”
The event was spearheaded by the very funny actor and comic Jason Stuart (pictured below). Turning serious for a moment he told the crowd: “It really is important to show kids the way. I was one of those suicidal crazy kids who didn’t know who I was or didn’t know what I was doing and didn’t have anyone to show me.”
Other performers included Julie Goldman who was wildly funny during her set (I got to tell her at the reception how much I LOVED her Liza Minnelli parody on The Big Gay Sketch Show).
Geri signed copies of her new autobiography I’m Walking as Straight As I Can at the post-show reception (that’s her signing my copy below).
Jaason Simmons and Alexandra Paul of Baywatch fame were among the celebs in the audience (they are pictured below with LifeWorks Executive Director Michael Ferrera, Stuart and Jewell).
Bartending at the reception were those cutie pie Lane twins, Gary and Larry, who recently won big on ABC’s Wipeout. They told me it took them about 10 days to recover from the competition.
