This very fun event was held at the gorgeous Hancock Park home of Tim Corrigan. It was a very fun afternoon filled with food, laughs, music, and well, a few cocktails. The highlight was a Top Chef challenge between openly gay chefs Jamie Lauren and Richard Sweeney.
The compeition was hosted by openly gay celebrity Chef Paul McCullough, a former contestant of the Food Network’s The Next Food Network Star. Special guest judges included Robert Gant, Elizabeth Keener (The L Word) and Wilson Cruz.
GLAAD Hancock Park – Top Chef Invasion” was presented by American Airlines, Barefoot Wines, Bravo Television, and SKYY. (I don’t usually give all those plugs for free but what the hell!).All proceeds benefit GLAAD’s work to ensure fair, accurate and inclusive representation of LGBT people in the media and fight anti-LGBT defamation.

Everyone wanted to know who these two hotties were the moment they arrived. Well, I found out: they are Mike Furey and Tom Napack of the band Dangerous Muse and they performed a special set during the event.

Actor Robert Gant was one of the celebrity judges and certainly seemed to be having a good time. Robert, best known for his roles in the TV series Queer as Folk, Popular and Caroline in the City, has continued to thrive appearing in the British series Personal Affairs and such films as Save Me and Kiss Me Deadly.

The lovely Thea Gill of Queer as Folk and Dante’s Cove fame looked fresh as a daisy despite the summer heat. Thea, so good in the movie Mulligans recently, will have a guest spot on CBS’s Ghost Whisperer this fall among other projects. Whatever she’s in, I wanna watch!

The studly and talented Doug Spearman also led some star power to the event. He reprised his role of Chance in last year’s Noah’s Arc: Jumping the Broom movie which was so enjoyable that I am still left to wonder this: WHY was that show even taken off the air?

Okay, who’s hotter? Wilson Cruz or his boyfriend? What a silly question! It’s a toss-up, of course.

I very much enjoyed chatting with Jai Rodriguez, the singer-actor who is best known for his years as one of the Fab Five on Bravo’s late great Queer Eye for the Straight Guy series. I will have an interview with Jai in the coming days about his upcoming movie Oy Vey! My Son is Gay! (Don’t ya just love that title?) It co-stars the fabulous Lainie Kazan.

I do believe this was the most popular man at the party. Yes, he’s very attractive but his real allure on this day was the wonderful beef tartare he was scooping into little cones. They. Were. Delish.

Who is this you ask? Well, he’s an aspiring actor who was bartending the event and was so good looking (my photo does not do him justice!) that I just had to snap a photo of him for the blog.

3 Remarks

  1. I will take one bartender and a server of steak tartare to go. Please. please, oh, please.

  2. Oh, and Dangerous Muse is so much fun too. Loved them so long as they ever sexier and far more talented.
