Patti LuPone gets Tony Award nomination for “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown”

The Tony Award nominations were announced in New York City this morning and I’m so excited to see that my favorite Broadway diva, Patti LuPone, was been nominated in the featured actress in a musical category for her performance in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
Miss LuPone has not been nominated in the featured actress category since her very first nod back in 1976 when she was up for The Robber Bridegroom. She was later nominated for lead actress in a musical four time winning for Evita and Gypsy but not for Sweeney Todd and Anything Goes.
Her competition this time around is: Laura Benanti, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown; Tammy Blanchard, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; Victoria Clark, Sister Act; and Nikki M. James, The Book of Mormon.
