Patti LuPone found a great way to get noisy audience member to shut up during performance at 54 Below
You have got to be an idiot to go to and see Patti LuPone perform and decide to be a Chatty Cathy – during the diva’s show.
Miss LuPone won’t have it and isn’t afraid to give someone a public scolding.
Earlier this week, the two-time Tony winner was in the middle of a show at 54 Below show when a woman in the crowd would not stop talking.
The woman was shushed several times by others in the audience to no avail.
LuPone heard the shushing and said to the crowd, “What? Me? OK, I’ll go home.”
The Broadway legend then asked the noisy audience member, “What is it, honey? Are you drunk? Are you menopausal?”
The woman told LuPone that it was her birthday.
Patti handled the situation brilliantly.
She led the audience in singing Happy Birthday then said to the woman: “Now shut up.”
Love it!
