Patti LuPone asks fans to help name her book
The great Patti LuPone, Tony winner for Evita and Gypsy, is writing her autobiography but she doesn’t have a name for it yet.
So the Broadway legend, so beloved by her fans, is asking them for a little help in coming up with a title for what is sure to be a very juicy read.
Here’s what she says on her website:
Dolls, I’ve been busy writing the story of my theatrical life and need your help to find a suitable and fabulous title. If your entry is selected you’ll win an autographed copy of the book, two tickets to my next Broadway show (or major show in a city near you), and I’ll congratulate you personally at the theatre. Contest ends March 30, 2010. ::Click here to submit your entry!::
So why should we be excited about a LuPone book? Because she has had one of the great careers on stage starring in successful revivals of the musicals Sweeney Todd, Anything Goes and Noises Off. She also triumphed in the play Master Class and her one-woman show Patti LuPone on Broadway.
Then of course there’s this: Miss LuPone was the original Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard and was sensational in the London production. She was contracted to take the show to Broadway but creator Andrew Lloyd Webber chose to Glenn Close who had starred in the LA production.
I cannot wait to read what Patti has to say about that!
