CHAMPIONS: For much of his tennis career, Stefan Edberg was my favorite player. When he retired in 1996, that was right around the time Patrick Rafter was rising through the ranks and took over for Stefan as my fave.

Though Edberg is Swedish and Rafter Australian, they had many similarities: Both had aggressive serve and volley games that helped them each win two US Open titles, both were known for their impeccable sportsmanship, both were once ranked number one and have been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

And, let’s face it, both are absolutely gorgeous men!

Both retired from the tennis tour years ago but how nice to see Patrick and Stefan back competing in some seniors events. One Sunday, they squared off in the final of the AEGON Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall in London with Rafter taking the title.
