Outfest Fusion LGBT People of Color Film Festival kicks off Friday – see trailers for some of the films!

The two-day Outfest Fusion LGBT People of Color Film Festival kicks off on Friday and the event it always a great time.

Most of the films will be screening at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood while a few will be at the REDCAT Theater downtown.

Some of movies I’m most looking forward to seeing are Friday night’s screening of the 1980 film Fame which led to the TV series. I have not seen the movie in decades!

Then I’ll take in The DL Chronicles RETURNS It’s the latest installment of Deondray Gossett and Quincy LeNear’s sultry drama filled with hot-bodied men working the down-low circuit.  The gorgeousness continues with Gossett and LeNear’s new web series, The Chadwick Journals, which explores the DL life through a dangerously sensuous encounter between a writer and his subject. As a special bonus, the program will be topped off with a preview of selected scenes from Doug Spearman’s upcoming sexy comedy Hot Guys With Guns.

Other films and programs include Homeboy, Fusion Retrospective Shorts, My Brother the Devil, Strange Frame, White Frog, OutSet Shorts, Audre Lorde, Talking with the Taxman About Poetry, Christopher Lee Tribute, 10th Anniversary Fusion Gala Screening & Party.

Outfest will present its annual Fusion Achievement Award to writer, director and producer Angela Robinson. She is a prolific filmmaker comfortable in a variety of both genres and media, as she moves back and forth between film, television and the web.

Premiering at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, he film D.E.B.S. opened many doors to Robinson.  She became the first out lesbian to direct a Disney family comedy (Herbie: Fully Loaded), and dircted has multiple episodes of hits like The L Word, True Blood and Hung, among others.
