Outfest special events to include panels for “Glee” and “Big Love” and screening of “Prayers for Bobby”
The new Fox musical series Glee has aired only one episode and does not return to the air until the fall (not the smartest programming decision in my opinion) but it has generated tons of buzz and gained a huge gay foll0wing.
So it is quite appropriate that a panel on Glee is among the special events announced today by the Outfest 2009, the 27th annual Gay and Lesbian Film Festival which will run in LA July 9 to 19. Another panel will be on the HBO drama Big Love while panelists Bil Condon (Chicago), Leslie Dixon (Hairspray), Peter Barsocchini (High School Musical) and H.P. Mendoza (Colma: The Musical) will gather for Words, Pictures and Music about big screen musicals.
There will also be a Screenwriting Lab Reading which will host a screening of Sandra Bernhard’s Without You I’m Nothing as well as free screenings of the celebrated documentary Before Stonewall on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a sneak peek of the documentary Making the Boys about The Boys in the Band. Also: a special screening of the wonderful Lifetime movie Prayers For Bobby starring Sigourney Weaver.
