Out director Bryan Singer says he’s interested in directing another “X-Men” movie
Bryan Singer, director of the first two
X-Men movies, said Sunday at the South Korea’s Pusan International Film Festival that he is considering returning to the franchise.
“I’m still looking to possibly returning to the ‘X-Men’ franchise. I’ve been talking to Fox about it,” Singer said. “I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast,”
He had passed on directing subsequent installments of the franchise and, instead, directed Superman Returns and Valkyrie.
Singer said the
X-Men series, which follows a group of mutants with superpowers who struggle to fit in with humans, is about tolerance and social structures.A story in
Huffington Post quotes singer as saying he likes to “trick audiences into thinking they’re seeing fireworks, but they’re learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say.”
“The excitement about working in science fiction and fantasy is – the stories, if they are good, are about the human condition.”

Bruce says:
Let’s see: There was the critical disaster of the Superman reboot, followed by the total meltdown of the Tom Cruise vanity flick about some good Nazis who failed to kill Hitler. It may be two years or more until he has anything new in theaters, which would be closing on 10 years since the success of X2. Oh, and he dithered his way through development on “Mayor of Castro Street” and got scooped by “Milk.” So, yeah, I’d be looking for a surefire hit too.
