Nyle DiMarco asks fans to learn a little sign language
Nyle DiMarco has more fans than ever since winning the most recent season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.
He’s not only the first LGBT winner in the show’s 22-season history, but he’s also its first deaf winner.
The second part is what seem to forget when they run into DiMarco in person.
‘I love my fans but sometimes think it’s funny when they still speak to me when running into me,’ DiMarco tweeted on Friday.
‘Try learning a little ASL (American Sign Language) if you want to make my day.’
When asked by a Twitter follower how they can learn ASL if it’s not offered at their school, the one time America’s Next Top Model champ posted a second tweet with a link to The ASL App.
It claims to be able to teach conversational sign language ‘on the go with all phrases and signs organized to make it easy for you to learn.’
Following his win last month with professional partner Peta Murgatroyd, DiMarco said: ‘I really wanted to connect with the audience and teach them what it really means to be deaf.’
I have a solution for you all! I'm teaching ASL on @theaslapp
