The 2011 Tony Awards are on Sunday, June 12 and are being hosted for the second time in three years by Neil Patrick Harris.

He chatted with TV Guide recently about the show. Here are some excerpts:

Q. How will you top your [2009] performance? Dress in a Spider-Man costume or as a Mormon missionary?

A. No. And I can – almost – guarantee I won’t be on stage in drag. But I will do a big opening number. Expect some watercooler surprises!

Q. [The Book of Mormon is] almost to outrageous to spoof, isn’t it?

A. It’s very irreverent and blue, and they finally found a number they think won’t upset the censors. Still, it may be as unpredictable and lewd a Tonys as network television will allow.

Q. Why should people tune in to the Tony Awards?

A. It’s what you’d see if you came to New York and saw one show. Except you can sit in your living room and see nine of them.
