WATCH: Novak Djokovic says he’d rather miss French Open and Wimbledon than get COVID vaccine

Tennis world number one Novak Djokovic reiterated his stance on not getting vaccinated against COVID-19 and said he would opt out of playing in future majors that would require him getting inoculated.

“Yes, that is the price that I’m willing to pay,” Djokovic told the BBC in an extensive interview. “Because the principles of decision-making on my body are more important than any title or anything else … I’m trying to be in tune with my body as much as I possibly can. Based on all the information that I got, I decided not to take the vaccine, as of today.”

It’s a pity because he’s a great champion but he is owning his decision and not pointing fingers which I respect. It would have been far better if there hadn’t been all that mess in Australia over whether he could play or even remain in the country.

I’ve never been more into men’s tennis than I am right now because there are so many talented and attractive stars including my faves Stefano Tsistipas, Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, Carlos Alcaraz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Cameron Norrie.
Rafael Nadal is a miracle and won the Aussie Open over world number 2 Daniil Medvedev who won the US Open last year. Plus there’s the exciting and hungry and Matteo Berrettini, Andrey Rublev, Grigor Dimitrov, Alex de Minaur, Frances Tiafoe, Denis Shapovalov, Reilly Opelka and many more who so great to watch! And Andy Murray is back inside the top 100 and giving his all, Dominic Thiem will be coming back soon and hopefully Roger Federer too.

So if Novak sits out some majors by choice, plenty of other worthy competitors deserve our attention.
