Nicollette Sheridan on former ‘Desperate Housewives’ boss Marc Cherry: “Oh, he’s such a bitch.”

I posted yesterday excerpts from William Keck’s terrific TV Guide cover story on the exit of Nicollette Sheridan from Desperate Housewives. The online version doies not contain everything that the print version does and it just arrived in the mail.

So, a few more tidbits. First let me say, I love that Nicollette is being honest and outspoken about it all. Otherwise, it would be so boring!

Keck writes that the day before the script with her character’s death was circulated, Sheridan was summoned into the office of show creator and executive producer Marc Cherry: “He was sitting there with his entourage and all of their heads were hanging low. I chuckled to myself and thought, ‘This is a motley looking crew.’ So I sit down and Marc is very uncomfortable. He starts speaking in circles then finally says: “I just wanted you to hear it here that Edie is going to get into a car crash. And she’s going to die.”

Ouch!

This kinda sucks: Apparently a few of her co-stars knew before Sheridan herself. As someone who was blindsided by a layoff not long ago, I can tell you that it the worst part of all: as you go about doing your job, there are people with poker faces in another room plotting your demise!

By all reports, Sheridan was a total professional as she filmed her final scenes. Cherry hints there are ways to bring Edie back via flashbacks if Sheridan is open to it. Cherry said of the actress: “She performed the aging neighborhood tramp better than anyone ever had before.”

I love Nicollette’s reaction as reported by Keck: Hearing her former boss’ compliment, Sheridan lets out a sinster cackle. “That’s so funny,” she hisses. “Oh, he’s such a bitch.”
