New York rallies for marriage equality
It’s such a critical time for marriage equality.
I just walked by The Abbey in West Hollywood on my way to Java Detour next door and noticed a sign detailing a host of activities for the day the Calif0rnia Supreme Court hands down its ruling on Proposition 8.
The court has until June 1 so it will be any day now.
Meanwhile, New Yorkers are waiting to see if the State Senate approves a marriage equality bill that has already been passed by its house.
Gov. David Paterson will sign the bill if it is passed. Such out and proud stars as Cheyenne Jackson, Cynthia Nixon (pictured with Kristin Davis) David Hyde Pierce and Christopher Sieber took part in a massive rally Sunday that, we hope, had some influence on those undecided senators or those who fear that doing the right thing will hurt them politically.
“We’re in a race right now in New York,” Paterson said. “When are we going to admit that LGBT people do not have the same rights as straight people right now?”
Also at the rally was New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz, Tony nominee Gavin Creel, singer Michael Feinstein and four-time Tony winner Audra MacDonald.

Also, here is a shot of First Lt. Dan Choi, being fired from the military under it’s horrible “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy against gays and lesbians, was at the NYC rally and even smooched a cute guy.And finally, here is video of the cast of Hair performing at the rally:
