Neil Patrick Harris shoots down National Enquirer story: “I couldn’t be more in love with my family”

There’s a good reason why Neil Patrick Harris posted this tweet over the weekend: “I couldn’t be more in love with my family. Any reports to the contrary are woefully mistaken.”

The Tony winner, who ended his triumphant run last night on Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, was reacting to a National Enquirer story claiming that Harris and his ‘gay lover’ David Burtka had split.

Gay lover?

This is a couple who have been together for many years and are the parents of twins.

Okay, so they aren’t married but they are engaged so how about fiance or at least partner?

The proof for this alleged split?

Neil was spotted leaving the couple’s New York City brownstone at least four times since June all by himself.

There are also unnamed sources claiming they both look at other men.
