Neil Patrick Harris looking forward to Sunday’s Emmys: “I love TV and the motley crew of people that are part of it”
I’d be watching the Emmys no matter who was hosting them (even Ryan Seacrest!) but I’m really looking forward to having Neil Patrick Harris as this year’s host.
He just does this kind of thing so very well.
He’s happy to have been asked back to host for a second time.
‘I love TV and the motley crew of people that are part of it,’ NPH tells USA Today.
With hour Tony Award hosting stints under his belt, Neil certainly has become Hollywood’s host with the most.
‘I dabbled in magic and juggling and I sing some,’ he says. ‘Those are all, as it turns out, good attributes for being a host. … I think the key is to try and be nice. I’m not so wild a fan of comedy at people’s expense.’
Neil earned a third Emmy last weekend as a producer of the Tony Awards telecast to go with a fourth Emmy he received for a guest spot on Glee.
He has been nominated four times in the supporting actor in a comedy series category for his role of Barney Stinson How I Met Your Mother but never won. He is not nominated this year for that series which will soon begin its ninth and final season.
I predict he’ll be nominated for a Tony once he begins appearing on Broadway in the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch next year!
