Neil Patrick Harris: He won’t host Tonys this year because of commitment to “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”

That’s the word from New York Post columnist Cindy Adams.

She quotes NPH as saying: “Because of ‘Hedwig,’ I can’t emcee the Tonys.”

Broadway’s Drama League honored NPH this week and he talked about his upcoming run on Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch which he said is “a one-woman show about an East Berlin transgender lady, back when getting to America was by marriage. Look, I’ve spent nine years doing a TV character who’s an alpha guy. I didn’t want to do that same idea. This is a 90-minute, no-intermission production.”

Hopefully, NPH will be at the show as a nominee and perform a big number.

He’s been an absolute smash as Tony host and won Emmys for three of the shows of which he was also a producer.
