It’s so great when real a star who has really earned their way to the top is recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Earlier today, it was Neil Patrick Harris’ turn and boy, it is an honor that is well-deserved. (By NPH’s side for the occasion was his great love David Burtka).
“As much of an honor as this is, unfortunately, it won’t be the first time I’ve been plastered on the sidewalk in front of the Frolic Room,” the two-time Emmy winner joked today at his induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, noting his star’s placement near a dive bar and the Pantages Theater. “And yes, that includes right now.”
“Right now, my twins, Gideon and Harper, are too young to understand this honor,” he added. “They spend most of their time peeing and vomiting on me. But let’s be honest, that’s probably what’s going to happen nightly to my star here outside the Frolic Room. But someday, when they’re older, I’ll take them here, my heart bursting with pride, and say, ‘Kids, your old man was the 587th Hollywood star in the Television category. And God that sounds good!”
The timing of the star comes as he begins an eighth season as Barney Stinson on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. It also comes in the days leading up to Sunday’s Emmy Awards which snubbed NPH this year after at least 4 or 5 consecutive nominations for his performance as Barney (His Emmys are for a guest spot on Glee and for hosting the Tonys).
Congratulations to a great star. Can’t wait to walk all over him!
