Neil Patrick Harris focusing on “Hedwig” but on possibly replacing Letterman: “Who knows?”
Neil Patrick Harris would be a PERFECT replacement for David Letterman on The Late Show – perfect.
He would make history as the first openly gay late night host but that aside, he would bring so much to the table.
So what does NPH think of the prospect?
‘But I’m a big fan of CBS and [CBS’s chairman and chief executive officer Les Moonves], so who knows?’ he tells the New York Observer.
CBS has been home to Harris for nearly a decade as one of the stars of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother which ended its nine-year run last week. He has also hosted four Tony Awards and two Emmy Awards telecasts for the network.
Letterman is stepping down next year which would give Harris plenty of time to wrap up his current commitment to Hedwig and Angry Inch which officially opens on Broadway in two weeks.
‘I’m super focused on Hedwig at the moment, so that hasn’t even been a conversation at all,’ he said of The Late Show.
